Network silent as speculation mounts
The usually reliable online poker information website Pokerfuse startled industry observers this week with its report - allegedly based on “sources close to the issue” - that Playtech’s iPoker network could be split, with the major brands forming their own separate player pool.
The network currently comprises some 40 brands, but most of the action is generated by a core of major brands that includes Titan Poker, William Hill, BetFred, Paddy Power and Bet365.
These larger companies want to break away from the other brands on the network, according to Pokerfuse’s source, and Playtech is considering the possibility.
The poker information site claims that the concept is not a new one; Ongame is operating a ‘super’ network within its network comprised of major brands like Betsson, Betsafe and Betfair.
Neither iPoker nor Playtech has commented on the reports.
